ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF
AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SUBSECTION 18.7(1) AS IT EXISTS NOW
AND ENACTING A NEW SUBSECTION 18.7(1) FOR THE PURPOSE OF
INCREASING FINES FOR OVERTIME PARKING TICKETS; REPEALING
ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; ESTABLISHING A
PENALTY AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa:
Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa is hereby amend-
ed by repealing Subsection 18.7(1) as it now exists and enacting a new subsec-
tion 18.7(1) as follows:
"(1) Any violation of any parking regulations of this chapter, may be
charged by placing a notice of violation envelope on the vehicle so
parked. The amount payable for violation of 18.28 (overtime park-
ing) shall be three dollars ($3.00) if paid within seven (7) days of
the date of violation; five ($5.00) dollars if paid from eight (8) to
thirty (30) days after the date of violation; and ten ($10.00)
dollars if paid after thirty (30) days. The amount payable for
violation of Sec. 18.18 (handicapped parking) shall be fifty dollars
($50.00) . The amount payable for all other parking violations
shall be five dollars."
Section Two. Violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall constitute
a simple misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $100 or by imprisonment
for not more than 30 days.
Section Three. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
shall be repealed to the extent of such conflict if any.
Section Four. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and publication as required by law.
