HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Prohibiting Parking in School Bus Loading Zones, Crosswalks on Burnett Avenue ORDINANCE NO. 3235 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SUBSECTION 18.31(15) AND RE-ENACTING THE SAME REVISED TO PROHIBIT PARKING IN AREAS SET OUT AS A SCHOOL BUS LOADING ZONE AND A CROSS WALK; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; ESTAB- LISHING A PENALTY AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa: Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa is hereby amend- ed by repealing Subsection 18.31(15) and re-enacting the same to read as follows: "(15)(a) Parking is prohibited between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. from Main Street to Sixth Street. (b) Parking is prohibited on Monday, Wednesday and Friday on the west side and on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sun- day on the east side from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Sixth Street to Thirteenth Street. (c) Parking is prohibited on both sides of Burnett Avenue from a point 200' south of the south curb of Twentieth Street, then south for 50'. (d) Parking is prohibited on the east side of Burnett Avenue from a point 250' south of the south curb of Twentieth Street, then south for 175', except that school buses may park, stand or stop in that area while loading or unloading passengers." Section Two. Violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall constitute a simple misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $100 or by imprisonment for not more than 30 days. Section Three. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith shall be repealed to the extent of such conflict if any. Section Four. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as required by law. Passed this loth day of August 1993. l Sandra L.
