of and Repealing All Conflicting Ordinances. •.BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the ,
City of Ames, Iowa:
Section 1. RE`_:ULATIO?: Or.—That from
and after the passage and publication of this
ordinance, it shall be unlawful for any person, -
firm or corporation to construct, erect or - -
maintain any hill board within the City of
• Ames, Iowa, which do=s not comply strictly
with the provisions hereof.
Section 2. LICENS> No person, firm or -
' corporation shall erect or maintain any billw
r board within this city.without first obtaining E ,

•.� Section 4. FEES.—The annual license fee
shall be 51.00 for each lineal foot or fraction _ !
thereof of such bill board
Section 5. BILL BOARDS—COVSTRUC
TION OF. All bill hoards shall be of neat
and substantial construction and when ected -
shall be not over thirteen feet n height, and `
not less than three feet above the general sur-
face of the ground. No bill board shall be F
erected within fifty feet of the intersection of
�• any streets or avenues or within one hundred -
,. feet of any railway right of way or at any
other place where same does or may interfere
wwah it clear and unobstructed view of any
street or avenue or railway cra,sing or rail-
way track, or to in any way interfere with
J th use and occupancy of any property or with
i the air, lights or view of any occupant of any
dwtl ink house or price of business. No •
bill board shall be placed within six feet of
any building. But nothing in-this ordinance
shall be Construed as forbidding or prohibiting
'the owners of buildings in the City,of Amct,

build-ings signs advertising the business in which i
they are engaged nor forbidding or permit- -
w, ting any persons bolding a Ir en>e under this

Section 6. PRELIMINARY E kAMINA-
TION. The Mayor of this city may in his
discretion, whenever he has satisfied himself i
by a personal inspection or otherwise, that a -
bill board has been erected or is being mum- If
w�\ 'ta.ined within this city in contravention of
any of the provisions hereof, or is in such con-
dition that the same is or may ,be dangerous
to the public, order the same removed or re-
constructed, and if the owner thereof fails to -
remove or reconstruct same forthwith, same
.shall be removed by the City Engineer or -
Marshal.
Section.i. PENALTY. Any person, firm f -
or: corporation who ere t:s or maintains a
bill beard within this city without haying first
procured. a license and paid the fees therefor,.,
or who in any manner violates any of the
` provkions of this ordinance shall be deemed_
guilty o f a misdemeanor and upon conviction
thereof'shall be fined in a sum not less than
ten dollars and not more than, fifty dollars;- -

, Section 8.--REPEAL.'All other ordinances?
or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith I -or in any wise repugnant to any of the pro-• -
vision hereof, are hereby repealed. This ardi
nance shall be in full force and effect from! "
