HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amending Official Flood Plain Zoning Map, Teagarden Area ORDINANCE NO. 3228 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE OFFICIAL FLOOD PLAIN ZONING MAP AND SUBSECTION 9.2(2) OF THE AMES MUNICIPAL CODE FOR THE PURPOSE OF ENACTING A REVISION OF FLOOD PLAIN DELINEATIONS PERTAINING TO THE TEAGARDEN AREA WATERSHED IN AMES, IOWA. BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa: Section One. The Flood Boundary Map prepared as part of the Flood Insur- ance Study for the City of Ames, Iowa in 1980, and the one-tenth (.1) foot Floodway Alternative Map, both adopted by Ames Ordinance Number 2745 on Janu- ary 22, 1980, are hereby revised to conform to the flood boundary map prepared as part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Federal Insurance Adminis- tration, Revised Flood Insurance Study, Teagarden Area Watershed, City of Ames, Iowa. Section Two. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa is hereby amended by repealing Subsection 9.2(2) thereof and re-enacting that Subsection to read as follows: 11(2) Establishment of Official Flood Plain Zoning Map. The Flood Bound- ary Map prepared as part of the Flood Insurance Study for the City of Ames, Iowa in 1980, and the one-tenth (.1) foot Floodway Alternative . Map, both adopted by Ames Ordinance No. 2745 on January 22, 1980, as revised to conform to the flood boundary map prepared as part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Federal Insurance Administration, Revised Flood Insurance Study, Teagarden Area Watershed, are hereby adopted by reference and declared to be the Official Flood Plain Zoning Map. The flood profiles and all explanatory material contained with the said flood insurance studies and pertinent maps are also adopted by this reference and made a part hereof." Section Three. Violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall consti- tute a municipal infraction, punishable as provided by law and set out in Section 1.9, Ames Municipal Code. Section Four. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval by Federal and State agencies and publication, all as required by law. Passed this 8th day of June 1993.
