To whom it may concern:
City of Ames ordinance 17.16, minors prohibited on certain premises, reads
that it is unlawful for minors to be on the premises of an establishment where more
than 50% of the total business is from the sale of alcoholic beverages.
People's Bar and Grill would like to change this ordinance to allow customers of
all ages to be served food during restaurant hours. Eighty percent of our business
during the day is food sales so we consider ourselves to be a restaurant during the
day and a bar at night.
We feel our proposal to the Ames City Council is simple and straightforward. If
your records support that more than 50% of your daytime income is from food,
people of all ages should be allowed during the day. Each business must prove to the
City of Ames that they are mainly a restaurant and food is their emphasis during the
daytime hours.
