HomeMy WebLinkAboutA001 - Memo dated February 26, 1992 from Library endorsing removal of one hour limit on parking MEMORANDUM A ES PUBLIC LIBRARY TO Scott Logan FROM George Lawson Ocor C 5--- DATE J February 26, 1992 RE: Meter Regulation A problem has come to my attention. The parking meters on Douglas between Fifth and Sixth Streets have a one hour limit. Citizens who remain in those metered spots for more than one hour, even if they have paid for the time, are ticketed. I assume this regulation was originally adopted to turn over the traffic. In the past several months a number of residents have complained to me and other library staff regarding this parking limitation. Their objection, one that seems reasonable to me, is that their business in the library often extends beyond an hour. The only notice of the hour limit is in small print on the face of the meter. Also, this is the only block in the downtown area with that type of limit so it is an unexpected regulation. The Library would have no objection to the removal of this one hour limit and,, in fact, endorsessuch a change. Thanks for your attention to this issue.
