NOTICE OF HEARING
BANDSHELL AREA REZONING
Notice is hereby given that a public hearing shall be held before the
Ames City Council at its meeting scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th
day of November, 1991, in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 515 Clark Ave-
nue, Ames, Iowa, relative to the enactment of an ordinance to amend the
official Zoning Map of the City of Ames to change the zoning classification
of land located generally east of Crawford Avenue, north of East Fifth
Street, and south of the Cemetery, in one of the following ways:
a) Rezone from R-3 (Medium Density Residential) to R-2 (Low Density Resi-
dential) land described as:
Beginning at a point on the centerline of Crawford Avenue, said point
being 33 feet west of the northwest corner of Lot 2, Block 3, Ive's
Addition to Ames, Iowa; thence east along the north line of said Lot 2
to the northeast corner thereof; thence south along the east line of
said Lot 2 to the centerline of East 7th Street; thence west along the
centerline of East 7th Street to a point 176 feet east of the east line
of Crawford Avenue; thence north parallel to and 176 feet distant from
the east line of Crawford Avenue to a point 60 feet south of the north
line of said Lot 2, Block 3, Ive's Addition; thence west to the
centerline of Crawford Avenue; thence north along the centerline of
Crawford Avenue to the point of beginning;
which is the City Staff's recommendation; or, in the alternative,
b) Rezone from R-3 (Medium Density Residential) to R-2 (Low Density Resi-
dential) land described as:
Beginning at a point 8 feet west of the northwest corner of Lot 1, Lee's
Subdivision of Underwood's Addition to Ames, Iowa; thence east along the
north line of Lots 1, 2, and 3 of said Lee's Subdivision to the north-
west corner of Lew Cole's Subdivision to Ames, Iowa; thence continuing
east along the north line of said Lew Coles Subdivision to the northeast
corner thereof; thence south along the east line of said Lew Cole's
Subdivision to the southeast corner thereof; thence west along the south
line of said Lew Cole's Subdivision to the southwest corner of Lot 10,
Block 2, of said subdivision; thence north 16 feet along the west line
of said Lot 10 to the southeast corner of Lot 5 of Cole's Subdivision of
part of Block 1, Underwood's addition to Ames, Iowa; thence northwester-
ly to a point on the west line of said Lot 5, said point being 135 feet
south of the northwest corner of said Lot 5, thence west to a point on
the west line of Lot 3 of said Cole's Subdivision, said point being 135
feet south of the north line of said Lot 3, thence north along the west
line of said Lot 3 to the centerline of east 6th Street; thence west
along the centerline of East 6th Street to the centerline of the north-
south alley (extended) Block 2, Underwood's Addition to Ames, Iowa;

thence north along the centerline of said alley to the point of begin-
ning;
And beginning at a point on the centerline of Crawford Avenue, said
point being 33 feet west of the northwest corner of Lot 2, Block 3 Ive's
Addition to Ames, Iowa; thence east along the north line of said Lot 2
to the northeast corner thereof; thence south 60 feet along the east
line of said Lot 2; thence west 92 feet; thence south 23 feet; thence
west 120 feet; thence north 23 feet; thence west to the centerline of
Crawford Avenue; thence north along the centerline of Crawford Avenue to
the point of beginning;
which is the Planning and Zoning Commission's recommendation.

heard.
