AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY ADDING THERETO A NEW SUBSEC-
TION 17.16(2)(e) TO PERMIT UNDERAGE PERSONS ON CER-
TAIN LIQUOR ESTABLISHMENTS TO ATTEND BANQUETS;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND
SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa:
Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa is
hereby amended by adding a new subsection as follows:
"(e) The underage person is on the premises as a participant
in a banquet or ceremonial dinner for any organization
when authorized by the city council. Council authoriza-
tion can be sought for one or more such events by filing
a letter of request with the city clerk and chief of
police which shall state for each event:
(i) The identity of the organization holding the
banquet;
(ii) The bill of fare for the banquet;
(iii) The banquet guest list with a denotation of those
who are underage;
(iv) Measures to be taken to prevent consumption of
alcoholic beverages by underage persons attending
the banquet."
Section Two. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith shall be repealed to the extent of such conflict if any.
Section Three. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and publication as required by law.
