HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Designating Snow Routes, Parking in Municipal Lots during Snow Emergency ORDINANCE NO. 3149 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY AMENDING SUBSECTION 18.31(83) AND ADDING A NEW SUBSECTION 22.10(3) FOR THE PUR- POSE OF DESIGNATING COMMERCIAL SNOW ROUTES IN THE CAMPUSTOWN AND BUSINESS DISTRICT WITH THE PROVI- SION THAT PARKING IS ALLOWED IN THE MUNICIPAL PARK- ING LOTS DURING SNOW EMERGENCY; REPEALING ALL ORDI- NANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; ESTABLISHING A PENAL- TY AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa: Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa is hereby amended by repealing Subsection 18.31(83) as it now exists and adopting a new Subsection 18.31(83) as follows: 11(83) MUNICIPAL PARKING LOTS. Parking is prohibited between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. in lots R, S, X and Y in the east parking district and municipal parking lots X and Y in the west parking district except for those vehicles lawfully parked in spaces reserved pursuant to Section 18.5; and except that parking shall be allowed in Lots X and Y in the east parking district during snow emergencies for an unlimited time between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Parking is prohibited between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. every day, in municipal lots Q, T, U. V and Z, in the east parking district as such are declared and described in Section 18.3(1), (4) and (6) except for those vehicles lawfully parked in spaces reserved pursuant to Section 18.5; and except that parking shall be allowed in Lot Z in the east parking district during snow emergencies for an unlimited time between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Angle parking is permitted as indicated. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, is hereby further amended by enacting a new Subsection 22.10(3) as fol- lows: (3) The following streets or portions of streets designated in this section shall, when official signs have been erected giving notice of such as a "Snow Route--Tow-Away Zone", be subject to Section 22.8 between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. every day. (a) Clark Avenue from the north line of Lincoln Way to the the south line of Sixth Street. � r (b) Kellogg Avenue from the north line of Lincoln Way to the south line of Sixth Street. (c) Lincoln Way from the east line of Sheldon Avenue to the west line of Lynn Avenue. (d) Welch Avenue from the south line of Lincoln Way to the north line of Chamberlain Street. (e) Burnett Avenue from the south line of Sixth Street to the north line of Main Street. (f) Douglas Avenue from the south line of Sixth Street to the north line of Main Street. (g) Fifth Street from the west line of Duff Avenue to the east line of Grand Avenue. (h) Main Street from the west line of Duff Avenue to the east line of Grand Avenue. (i) Pearle Street from the south line of Fifth Street to the north line of Main Street. (j) Chamberlain Street from the west line of Lynn Ave- nue to the east line of Hayward Avenue. (k) Hayward Avenue from the south line of Lincoln Way to the south line of Chamberlain Street. (1) Stanton Avenue from the south line of Lincoln Way to the north line of Chamberlain Street." Section Three. Violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall constitute a simple misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $100 or by imprisonment for not more than 30 days. Section Four. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith shall be repealed to the extent of such conflict if any. Section Five.
