HomeMy WebLinkAboutA013 - Notice of Hearing for November 13, 1990 meeting NOTICE OF HEARING BANDSHELL AREA REZONING Notice is hereby given that a public hearing shall be held before the Ames City Council at its meeting scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. on the 13th day of November, 1990, in the Council Chambers at City Hall , 515 Clark Ave- nue, Ames, Iowa, relative to the enactment of an ordinance to amend the official Zoning Map of the City of Ames to change the zoning classification of land located generally east of Duff Avenue, north of east Fifth Street, and south of east 9th Street, in one of the following ways: a) Rezone from R-3, Medium Density Residential District, to R-2, Low Densi- ty Residential District, land described as: Beginning at a point 33 feet north and 40 feet west of the northwest corner of Lot 17, Block 1, Ives Addition to Ames, Iowa, said point also being the intersection of the centerline of Duff Avenue and the centerline of East 9th Street; thence along the centerline of East 9th Street to the centerline of Crawford Avenue; thence south along the centerline of Crawford Avenue to the north line (extended) of Lot 2, Block 3, Ives Addition to Ames, Iowa; thence east along the north line of said Lot 2 to the east line of said Lot 2; thence south along the east line of said Lot 2 to the southeast corner of said Lot 2; thence east 801.9 feet to the east line (extended) of Lew Cole's Subdivision to Ames, Iowa; thence south along the east line of Lew Cole's Subdivision to the southeast corner of Lot B, Block 2, Lew Cole's Subdivision; thence west along the south line of said Lew Cole's Subdivision to the southwest corner of Lot 10, Block 2, Lew Cole's Subdivision; thence north along west line of said Lot 10, 16 feet to the southeast corner of Lot 5 of Cole's Subdivision of Part of Block 1, Underwood's Addition to Ames, Iowa; thence northwesterly to a point on the west line of said Lot 5, 135 feet south of the northwest corner of said Lot 5; thence west to the west line of Lot 2 of said subdivision, said point being 135 feet south of the north line of said Lot 2; thence southwesterly to a point on the south line of Lot 2, Block 1, Underwood's Addition to Ames, Iowa, said point being 167 feet east of the southwest corner of said Lot 2; thence south to the centerline of the east-west alley of Johnson's Addition to Ames, Iowa; thence west along the centerline of said alley to the centerline of Crawford Avenue; thence south along the centerline of Crawford Avenue to the centerline of East 5th Street; thence west along the centerline of East 5th Street to the centerline of Duff Ave- nue; thence north along the centerline of Duff Avenue to the centerline of East 6th Street; thence east along the centerline of East 6th Street to the centerline (extended) of the north-south alley, Block 34, Second Addition to Ames, Iowa; thence north along the centerline of the north- south alley of said Block 34 to the north line (extended) of Lot 7, said Block 34; thence west along the north line of Lot 7 to the centerline of Duff Avenue; thence north along the centerline of Duff Avenue to the point of beginning; and from P-C, Planned Commercial , to R-2, Low Density Residential , land described as: Lot 5, Block 34, Second Addition to Ames, Iowa which is the Petitioner's proposal ; or, in the alternative, b) Rezone from R-3, Medium Density Residential , to R-2, Low Density Resi- dential , land described as: Beginning at a point 33 feet north and 40 feet west of the northwest corner of Lot 17, Block 1, Ives Addition to Ames, Iowa, said point also being the intersection of the centerline of Duff Avenue and the centerline of East 9th Street; thence east along the centerline of East 9th Street to the centerline of Crawford Avenue; thence south along the centerline of Crawford Avenue to the south line (extended) of the north 60 feet of Lot 2, Block 3, Ives Addition to Ames, Iowa; thence east along said south line of said Lot 2 to a point 176 feet east of the west line of said Lot 2; thence south along a line parallel to and 176 feet distant from the west line of said Lot 2 to the south line of said Lot 2; thence south to the northeast corner of Lot 10, Block 2, Underwood's Addition to Ames, Iowa; thence east to the centerline of the north-south alley of said Block 2; thence south along the centerline of said Block 2 to the centerline of East 6th Street; thence east along the centerline of east 6th Street to a point 33 feet north of the northeast corner of Lot 2, Cole's Subdivision of Part of Block 1, Underwood's Addition to Ames, Iowa; thence south along the east line of said Lot 2 to a point on the east line of said Lot 2, a distance of 135 feet south of the north- east corner of said Lot 2; thence west to a point on the west line of said Lot 2, said point being 135 feet south of the north line of said Lot 2; thence southwesterly to a point on the south line of Lot 2, Block 1, Underwood's Addition to Ames, Iowa, said point being 167 feet east of the southwest corner of said Lot 2; thence south 8 feet to the centerline of the east-west alley of Johnson's Addition to Ames, Iowa; thence west along the centerline of said alley to the centerline of Crawford Avenue; thence south along the centerline of Crawford Avenue to the centerline of East 5th Street; thence west along the centerline of East 5th Street to the centerline of Duff Avenue; thence north along the centerline of Duff Avenue to the centerline of East 6th Street; thence east along the centerline of East 6th Street to the centerline of Carroll Avenue; thence north along the centerline of Carroll Avenue to a point 40 feet east of the northeast corner of Lot 5, Block 34, Second Addition to Ames, Iowa; thence west along the north line of said Lot 5 to the centerline of the north-south alley in said Block 34; thence north along the centerline of said north-south alley to the north line (extended) of Lot 7, said Block 34; thence west along the north line of Lot 7, said Block 34, to the centerline of Duff Avenue; thence north along the centerline of Duff Avenue to the point of beginning, which is the Planning Commission and City staff recommendation.
