Dear City Council Members,
I am writing you regarding the proposed change in traffic
control in my neighborhood . The alternative receiving the most
attention would result in many stop signs being put up. In fact I
would have to stop three times every time I go to Fareway. I
don ' t understand why this is being done . What is the problem?
The average speed on Burnett is 25 . 9 mph . This is to my mind a
reasonable speed . There are more accidents than in some
neighborhoods, but that is to be expected because there is more
traffic. And one should expect more traffic than in the average
neighborhood given our proximity to downtown, the hospital,
Fareway, etc .
I am very opposed to changing the traffic control currently
in effect . It works . There is not a problem . I have three
children and do not perceive any unusual safety problems . Please
vote to leave things the way they are .
I would also like to point out that drastically increasing
the number of stop signs will result in a significant increase in
fuel consumption; something given the current situation in the
Middle East, I don ' t think we can afford to do .
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Nick Osness
