RIPP Associate Principal February 24 , 1990 M. SUZANNE SPODEN Assistant Principal Mr . Scott Logan , Traffic Engineer City of Ames 125 South Third Ames , Iowa 50010 Dear Scott : Thank you for your time and advice concerning the traffic flow on the Ames High School Drive at Ames High School . After continued discussion here at Ames High School , we are requesting that we re- turn to the original traffic pattern we had years ago . Specifically , we are requesting : ( 1) Two-way traffic on the Ames High Drive from 20th Street past the high school to Ridgewood Avenue . (2) Retention of the center island in front of the high school with no access to the east parking lot from the west lane in front of the high school . (3) Retention of the existing FIRE LANE next to the sidewalk from 20th Street to Ridgewood Avenue . (4) Installation of NO PARKING ANYTIME signs on all remaining lanes of the Ames High Drive from 20th Street to Ridgewood Avenue . We believe the present traffic and parking situation on the Ames High Drive is not suitable for easy access of emergency vehicles to Ames High School and the Municipal Pool . The present parking policy also poses a pedestrian safety concern . We further request that surveillance and ticketing of offenders by the Ames Police be done on a regular daily basis . Thank you for your help and consideration in this matter . Sincerely , William C . Ripp Associate Principal
