HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Regulating Bicycles on Sidewalks in Campustown ORDINANCE NO. 3073 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTION 4.13 AS IT NOW EXISTS AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION 4.13 FOR THE PURPOSE OF REGULATING BICYCLES ON SIDEWALKS ON HAYWARD AVENUE AND WELCH AVENUE ; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; ESTABLISHING A PENALTY AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED, the the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, is amended as follows: Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa is hereby amended by repealing Sec. 4.13 as it now exists and enacting a new Sec. 4.13 as follows: "Sec. 4.13. RIDING ON SIDEWALKS. It is unlawful for any person to operate a bicycle, tricycle or unicycle upon any sidewalk on the following streets: (1) Main Street from Duff Avenue to Clark Avenue. (2) Lincoln Way on the south side thereof from Stanton Ave- nue to Hayward Avenue. (3) Hayward Avenue on the east side thereof from Lincoln Way to Hunt Street. (4) Welch Avenue from Lincoln Way to Knapp Street." Section Two. Violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall constitute a simple misdemeanor punishable by a fine of $10.00. Section Three. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith shall be repealed to the extent of such conflict if any. Section Four. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as required by law. Passed this 20th day of _ March 1990.
