HomeMy WebLinkAboutA006 - Letter dated February 7, 1989 from Leroy and Alice Lillie 808 Douglas Ames, Iowa 50010 February 7 , 1989 To: Historic Commission Members Planning and Zoning Commission City Council Members We support the establishment of the posposed historic district. We purchased the property at 808 Douglas Avenue in January 1954 when we came to make our home in Ames. We have every hope and intention of remaining in this home as long as we live. Even though we are 87 years of age, (Leroy) and 81 years, (Alice) we expect to continue to live in this location and we feel that the creation of an historic district would not only enhance the value of our property but would protect the nature of the area which we feel is a desirable one. In the past several years we have watched with pleasure the renovation of a number of houses in this area and we are confident that this type of improvement will continue if the historic district becomes a reality. We also believe that such a district would be an asset for the entire city of Ames. We ask that you act to create the historic district. Signed Leroy D. Lillie Alice F. Lillie
