AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
CITY OF AMES BY REPEALING SECTION 26.14 AND ENACT-
ING A NEW SECTION 26.14 RELATING TO REPORTING RE-
QUIREMENTS IN MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS; REPEALING
ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH; ENACTING A PENALTY; AND ESTABLISHING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
BE IT ENACTED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa:
Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, shall be
and the same is hereby amended by repealing Section 26.14 thereof,
and re-enacting a new Section 26.14 as follows:
"Section 26.14 IMMEDIATE REPORT REQUIRED
The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury
to or death of any person shall immediately, by the quickest means
of communication, give notice of such accident to the police de-
partment if such accident occurs within this City. [State Law
Ref. Iowa Code See. 321.266]"
Section Two. Violation of this ordinance shall constitute a misdemeanor
and shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $100.00.
Section Three. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here-
with are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section Four. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and publication as required by law.
