AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
CITY OF AMES, IOWA BY REPEALING SECTION 18.25 AS IT
NOW EXISTS AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION 18.25 FOR
THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING AN AREA TO BE DESIGNATED
AS PARKING SPACE RESERVED FOR OFFICIAL CARS ON
5TH STREET, WEST OF CARROLL AVENUE; PROVIDING A
PENALTY; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT; AND, PROVIDING AN EFFEC-
TIVE DATE.
BE IT ENACTED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa:
Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames shall be and is
hereby amended by repealing Section 18.25 as it now exists and
enacting a new Section 18.25 as follows:
"Sec. 18.25. SPACES RESERVED FOR OFFICIAL CARS;
PARKING THEREIN PROHIBITED
The fifty-eight (58) feet on the east side of Kellogg
Avenue and the forty (40) feet on the south side of Fifth
Street, measured respectively south and east from the
southeast corner of Kellogg Avenue and Fifth Street adjacent
to City Hall; and on the south side of Fifth Street from the
center line of Carroll Avenue east one hundred seventy (170)
feet, adjacent to the municipal power plant; and on the north
side of Fifth Street beginning one hundred fifty-one (151)
feet west of the west line of Carroll Avenue and extending
nine (9) feet to the west; and the nine spaces west and
adjacent to the municipal depot and twelve spaces east and
adjacent to the municipal depot; are hereby reserved and set
aside for motor vehicles of the police department, other
official vehicles of the city, sheriff's department vehicles and
the state highway patrol vehicles or other authorized
vehicles as designed by the Transportation Engineer. All
other vehicles are prohibited from parking in said space, at
any time, or from interfering with the use of said space by
such motor vehicles."
Section Two. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict, if any.
Section Three. Violations of the provisions of this ordinance shall
constitute a simple misdemeanor punishable by a fine no: to exceed $100
or 30 days in jail.
Section Four. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its publication as required by law.
