Dear Steve,
The city of Ames recently changed the parking in the 600 block
of Burnett from alternate side of the street parking to parking
on both sides of the street, with no parking on either side
between the hours of 2 - 6 A. M.
I spoke to Mr . Arnold Chantland , Director of Public Works on
December 1st , and was informed that the City was planning to
change the parking in the 600 blocks of Clark, Kellogg and
Douglas from alternate parking to parking on both sides of the
street with no parking between the hours of 2 - 6 A. M.
The Postal Service in Ames has 20 to 25 employees who report
for work at 3 A. M. Monday through Saturday, and they must
rely on street parking for their vehicles .
I feel this parking change is discriminatory to my employees,
and as per our phone conversation Friday, I am requesting the
City of Ames to revert back to alternate parking in the 600
block of Burnett, and to retain alternate parking on Clark,
Kellogg and Douglas .
Thank you for any consideration given to this request.
Sincerely,
Donald L. Miller
