BACKGROUND: The Iowa State University Achievement Foundation has requested that two parcels of land, which will be included in Phase #1 of the ISU Research Park, be zoned P-I (Planned Industrial). A concurrent application for annexation has been filed with this request for zoning. The location of these two parcels and their current zoning are shown below: a. Parcel #1 is located north of Airport Road and east of the former Chicago and North Western Railroad right-of-way. This property is currently zoned A-1 (Agricultural) in Story County. b. Parcel #2 is located east of the intersection of Oakwood Road and Elwood Drive. This parcel is also zoned A-1 (Agricultural) in Story County. The Land Use Policy Plan of the City designates these two parcels as industrial and industrial expansion. Surrounding land uses include agricultural land and the Municipal Airport. Public utilities in the area include a 12-inch water main and a 12-inch sanitary sewer. Portions of these two parcels will be used for the realignment of Airport Road. A map is attached which shows the parcels to be rezoned. ALTERNATIVES: 1. The City Council can approve of these rezoning requests from A-1 (County) to P-I (Planned Industrial) by Iowa State University Achievement Foundation and set October 6, 1987, as the date of Public Hearing to consider this request. 2. The City Council can deny the rezoning requests from A-1 (County) to P-I (Planned Industrial) by Iowa State University Achievement Foundation. 2 MANAGER'S RECOMMENDED ACTION: It is the recommendation of the City Manager that the City Council adopt Alternative #1. This will approve of the rezoning request and establish October 6, 1987, as the date of Public Hearing to consider this request.
