ORDINANCE NO. 2970
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY
OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SUBSECTION 18.21(42) AND
ENACTING A NEW SUBSECTION 18.21(42) FOR THE PURPOSE OF
PROHIBITING PARKING AT ALL TIMES ON DUFF AVENUE FROM
SIXTEENTH STREET TO TWENTIETH STREET; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERE-
WITH; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY; AND ESTABLISHING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
BE IT ENACTED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa:
Section One. The Municipal Code for the City of Ames, Iowa shall be
and is hereby amended by repealing Subsection 18.21(42) thereof and
enacting a new Subsection 18.21(42) as follows:
"(42)Duff Avenue on both sides from the south corporate limits to
Twentieth Street; provided however, that parking may be
permitted in specifically designated areas back of the curb
line, and further provided that parking shall be prohibited on
cross- street approaches for a distance of thirty-five (35)
feet in advance of a stop sign and on exit sides of the cross
streets for a distance of thirty-five (35) feet back of the
crosswalks.
Section Two. Violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall con-
stitute a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $100.00 or by
imprisonment for a period not to exceed 30 days.
Section Three. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here-
with are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section Four. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and publication as required by law.
