AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY
OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SUBSECTION 2.11(3) AND
ENACTING A NEW SUBSECTION 2. 11(3) TO DELETE THE
AUTHORITY OF THE MAYOR TO APPOINT THE CHIEF OF POLICE;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY; AND
ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
BE IT ENACTED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa:
Section One. The Municipal Code for the City of Ames, Iowa shall be
and is hereby amended by repealing Subsection 2.11(3) thereof and enacting
a new Subsection 2.11(3) as follows:
11(3) The mayor shall appoint a council member as mayor pro tem."
Section Two. Violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall con-
stitute a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $100.00 or by
imprisonment for a period not to exceed 30 days.
Section Three. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here-
with are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section Four. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and publication as required by law.
