Re: May 1, 1985 meeting concerning revision
29.79. Surfacing of Off-Street Parking Areas
Please consider the following points:
1. You may wish to direct all paving requirements to apply to any
minimum parking lot requirements as per code. Parking lots or drives
in excess of minimum requirements should not be required to be paved.
To do so would only discourage property owners from providing extra
parking spaces.
2. Paved parking requirements should be waived in the instances
where the parking lots are off an unpaved public street or alley.
3. Consider requesting city staff to compile a list of any city
streets, alley, parking lot, or right of way, unpaved or gravel,
that exists in Ames now. Is there a priority list attached to this?
4. Would the City of Ames pave all driveways and parking lots it
now owns?
5. Would these regulations apply to commercial and industrial
sites such as where heavy machines or trucks are stored?
Q`p,AING Respectfully Subm' ed,
Scott E. Randall
