HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Deleting Residency Requirement for Members of Board of Electrical Examiners ORDINANCE NO. 2922 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTION 7.12 THEREOF AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION 7.12 FOR THE PURPOSE OF DE- LETING THE RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF ELECTRICAL EXAMINERS; REPEALING ALL ORDI- NANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE BE IT ENACTED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa: Section One. The Municipal Code for the City of Ames, Iowa shall be and is hereby amended by repealing Section 7.12 thereof and enacting a new Section 7. 12 as follows: "Sec. 7.12. BOARD OF EXAMINERS CREATED; MEMBERSHIP, QUORUM. There is hereby created a board of electrical examiners which consists of three (3) members, to be appointed by the mayor with the approval of the city council, at least one of whom shall be a layperson, and at least one a licensed electrician working in the city of Ames. Two (2) of the board members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. The city official or delegate shall be a member ex officio of the board without voting power. Section Two. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section Three.
