ORDINANCE NO. 2915
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF
THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, PERTAINING TO PARKING
ON THE EXCESS RIGHT-OF-WAY ALONG GABLE LANE;
PROVIDING A PENALTY AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFEC-
TIVE DATE
BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa:
Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa shall be
and is hereby amended by enacting a new section as follows:
"Sec. 18.30. GABLE LANE, EXCESS RIGHT-OF-WAY.
For those places along Gable Lane where encroachment permits
have been issued, pursuant to Chapter 22 of the Municipal Code,
to the owner of abutting land to permit surfacing of the excess
right-of-way that lies between the travelled portion of the street
and the sidewalk for purposes of vehicle parking, no parking is
permitted except for those vehicles that have been authorized by
the said abutting owner. The provisions of this section shall not
be interpreted as allowing parking spaces on such excess street
right-of-way to be counted towards meeting off-street parking
requirements under zoning and housing codes."
Section Two. Any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict, if any.
Section Three. Violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall con-
stitute a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars
or by imprisonment for not more than thirty days.
Section Four. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and publication as required by law.
