AN ORDINANCE TO ADD TERRITORY TO URBAN REVITALIZATION AREA NO. 4 AND
ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 404, Code of Iowa 1983, the
governing body of a city may, by ordinance, designate an area of the city as a
revitalization area upon the completion of procedures in the law; and
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 2801 enacted on the 15th day of December, 1981, a
certain area within the city was designated as Urban Revitalization Area No. 4;
and
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 2897 enacted on June 5, 1984, the Urban Revitalization
Area was amended by adding territory to the existing area; and
WHEREAS, it is now desired to designate and add further additional territory as
part of Urban Revitalization Area No. 4; and
WHEREAS, notice and hearing has been given and held as required by law for said
additional area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa:
Section One. In accordance with Chapter 404 Code of Iowa, the area
described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of Howard Avenue and Lincoln Way, thence
north 33 feet, thence north 122. 1 feet along the centerline of Howard
Avenue, thence east 193.0 feet, thence north 488.4 feet, thence west 20.85
feet, thence northeast 21.5 feet, thence west 11. 7 feet, thence north 60
feet, thence west 200 feet to the centerline of Howard Avenue, thence south
60 feet along the centerline of Howard Avenue, thence west 190 feet along
the south boundary of Lots 3,2, and 1 of Woodland Park Addition, thence
north 168.45 feet to the centerline of West Street thence northeast and
east along the centerline of West Street to a point south of the southwest
corner of Lot 1, Olson 's Subdivision, thence north to the southwest corner
of Lot 1, Olson 's Subdivision, thence northerly along the west side of Lot
1 Olson 's Subdivision, thence easterly 82. 7 feet along the north boundary
of Lot 1, Olson 's Subdivision, thence easterly to the centerline of
Woodland Street thence northwesternly along the centerline of Woodland
Street to a point 33 feet southwest of the southeast corner of Sublot 2 of
Lots 3 W.S.W. Section 4, T83, R24, thence northeasterly along the east
boundary of Sublot 2 of Lot 3 W.S.W. Section 4, T83 R24 to a point where
the north boundary extended west of Lot 17, Block 3, Briley's Addition
meets the east boundary of Sublot 2 of Lot 3 W.S.W. Section 4, T83, R24,
thence east 7. 7 feet, thence north 60 feet, thence east 190 feet to the
centerline of Campus Avenue, thence south along the centerline of Campus
Avenue to a point 30 feet west of the northwest corner of Lot 5 Stanley's
Subdivision, thence east 190.2 feet, thence south 67 feet, thence west 38
feet, thence south 133 feet to the centerline of West Street, thence west
along the centerline of West Street to a point north of the northwest
corner of Lot 8 Woodland Park Addition, thence south along the west
boundary of Lot 8 Woodland Park Addition to the southwest corner of Lot 8,
thence northeast along the southeast boundary of Lot 8 Woodland Park
Addition, to the southwest corner of Lot 8, Athletic Park Addition, thence
east 152.8 feet to the centerline of Campus Avenue, thence north 11. 1 feet
along the centerline of Campus Avenue, thence east 196.5 feet, along the
north boundary of Lot 3 1/2, north part of Athletic Addition, thence south
to the northwest corner of Lot 23 Athletic Park Subdivision, thence west 15
feet, thence south to the centerline of Lincoln Way, thence west along the
centerline of Lincoln Way to the point of beginning, at the intersection of
Howard Avenue and Lincoln Way and also Lot 1, Olson 's Subdivision of Lot 9
of Woodland Park and Lot 7 of West 1/2, Southwest 1/4, Section 4, T83, R24.
shall be and is hereby designated as and added to what is designated and known
as Urban Revitalization Area No. 4.
Section Two. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
Ater its passage and publication as required by law.
