ORDINANCE NO. 2894
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF
THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTION
28.36 AS IT IS AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION 28.36
FOR THE PURPOSE OF INCREASING SEWER RATES;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDI-
NANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH TO THE EXTENT OF
SUCH CONFLICT AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
BE IT ENACTED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa:
Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames shall be and is
hereby amended by repealing Section 28.36 thereof and enacting a new
Section 28.36 as follows:
Section 28.36. SEWER RATES ESTABLISHED
Each and every lot, parcel of real estate, building or premises that is
connected with and uses the sanitary utility facilities of the city, or
that in any way uses or discharges sanitary sewage, industrial waste,
water, or other liquid, directly or indirectly into the sanitary sewer
system of the city shall pay monthly service charges, rates or rentals
to the city as follows:
(1) For water metered after the first one hundred (100) cubic feet the
net rate for sewer service shall be one dollar and thirty cents
($1.30) per one hundred (100) cubic feet for water meter readings
occurring on or after June 21, 1984.
(2) In addition to the rate set in sub-section (1) hereof, there shall
be imposed, for all billings, a minimum and base charge of three
dollars ($3.00) per month for which one hundred (100) cubic feet
of water shall be allowed.
(3) The sub-section (2) minimum sewer service charge shall apply to
every person or property discharging waste water or other liquid
into the sanitary sewer system of the city, although no water
meter is installed with respect to such person or property.
Section Two. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here-
with are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section Three. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after May 25, 1984.
