ORDINANCE NO. 2890
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY
OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SUBSECTIONS 17.1(1), 17.1(4)
17. 1(5) and 17. 100) THEREOF, AND ENACTING NEW SUB-
SECTIONS 17. 1(1), 17.1(4) and 17. 1(5) FOR THE PURPOSE OF
REFERRING TO THE APPROPRIATE ASSAULT OFFENSE,
ADOPTING THE NEW OFFENSE OF CRIMINAL MISCHIEF IN THE
FIFTH DEGREE, REFERRING TO THE APPROPRIATE NAME OF THE
OFFENSE OF TRESPASS AND REPEALING THE OFFENSE OF FUR-
NISHING INTOXICANTS TO INMATES; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT; ESTAB-
LISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE AND PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY
BE IT ENACTED by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa:
Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, shall be
and is hereby amended by repealing subsection 17. 1(1) thereof and enacting
a new subsection 17. 1(1) to read as follows:
"17. 1(1) Assault. [State Law Ref. Code of Iowa Sec. 708. 1,
708.2(3)]"
Section Two. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, shall be
and is hereby amended by repealing subsection 17.1(4) thereof and enacting
a new subsection 17. 1(4) to read as follows:
"17. 1(4) Criminal Mischief in the Fifth Degree. [State Law Ref.
Code of Iowa Sec. 716. 1 , 716.61"
Section Three. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, shall be
and is hereby amended by repealing subsection 17. 1(5) thereof and enacting
a new subsection 17. 1(5) to read as follows:
1117. 1(5) Trespass. [State Law Ref. Code of Iowa Sec. 716.7,
716.8(1))"
Section Four. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, shall be
and is hereby amended by repealing subsection 17. 1(10) thereof.
Section Five. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict if any.
Section Six. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and publication as required by law.

Section Seven. Violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall be
punishable as a simple misdemeanor by a fine not to exceed one hundred
(100) dollars or by imprisonment for a period not to exceed thirty (30)
days.
