HomeMy WebLinkAboutA002 - Council Action Form dated December 20, 1983 ITEM #: pQ • DATE: 12/20/83 COUNCIL ACTION FORM SUBJECT: Annexation and Rezoning for 2520 East Lincoln Way BACKGROUND: This is a request to annex 1 . 17 acres located at 2520 East Lincoln Way and rezone the property G-I (General Industrial) . The property owner requested the property be zoned A-1 (Agricultural) when the original annexation request was submitted. (Property annexed to the city is automatically zoned A-1 , and no zoning request was submitted , since the owner wanted the land zoned A-1 . ) Although contacted by city staff at that time regarding the possibility of zoning the property G-I, the owner decided not to pursue that change, since the only reaason he was requesting annexation was to hook up to the city water line located in East Lincoln Way. At the time the staff report was prepared for the Planning and Zoning Commission, the staff recommended that the property be zoned G-I if it was annexed . The primary reason for that recommendation is that the area is designated for industrial purposes in the Land Use Policy Plan and all adjacent land is zoned G-I. Further discussions with the property owner indicated that he had changed his • mind about having the property zoned G-I and supported the staff recommendation . This information was provided to the Planning and Zoning Commission during their review. At the meeting on December 7, 1983, the Planning and Zoning Commission took the following action: MOTION: (Manatt/Soper) That the request for annexation be approved. Motion carried; 4 in favor, 1 abstention (Cooper) MOTION: (Soper/Manatt) That the parcel be rezoned to G-I. Motion carried; 4 in favor, 1 abstention (Cooper) ALTERNATIVES: 1 .
