AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY
OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SUBSECTION 18.23(2)(1) AND
ENACTING A NEW SUBSECTION TO BE NUMBERED 18.23(6) FOR
THE PURPOSE OF REVISING PARKING REGULATIONS ON PRAIRIE
VIEW EAST TO ALTERNATE SIDE, YEAR-TO-YEAR CHANGEOVER;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PART OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING A PENALTY; AND,
ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ENACTED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa:
Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, shall be
and is hereby amended by repealing subsection 18.23(2)(1).
Section Two. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, is further
amended by enacting a new subsection 18.23(6) to read as follows:
"(6) Alternate Year Parking on Prairie View East. Beginning at
10:00 a.m. on December 12, 1983, parking shall be prohibited on
the west and south sides of Prairie View East and permitted on the
east and north sides until July 1, 1984, at 10:00 a.m. , at which
time parking shall be prohibited on the east and north sides and
permitted on the west and south sides of Prairie View East. On
July 1, 1985, at 10:00 a.m. , the regulations shall change back so
that parking shall be prohibited on the west and south sides and
permitted on the east and north sides of Prairie View East.
Thereafter, the side of said street on which parking shall be
prohibited shall alternate annually on July 1 at 10:00 a.m."
Section Three. Violations of the provisions of this ordinance shall
constitute a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed one hundred
dollars ($100) or by imprisonment not to exceet thirty (30) days.
Section Four. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict, if any.
Section Five. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and publication as required by law.
