AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY
OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SUBSECTION 21. 1(1) THEREOF
AND ENACTING A NEW SUBSECTION 21. 10) FOR THE PURPOSE
OF ADOPTING NEW RULES OF THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF
PUBLIC SAFETY WHICH CONSTITUTE THE "PLUMBING" PORTION
OF THE "STATE BUILDING CODE" AND REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT AND
ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
BE IT ENACTED by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa:
Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, shall be
and is hereby amended by repealing subsection 21. 1(1) thereof and enacting
a new Subsection 21.1(1) to read as follows:
21.1. PLUMBING RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE STATE
BUILDING CODE ADOPTED
(1) The 'State Building Code' of the State of Iowa has been
adopted and accepted as a local building code for the City of
Ames, Iowa. The plumbing rules and regulations forming a
part of the State Building Code and promulgated as rules
numbered 680-16.400 of the Iowa Administrative Code shall
govern and pertain to plumbing work and installation in the
City of Ames except for such specific, higher, standards and
requirements as have been or may from time to time be
enacted by the City of Ames. Violation of the standards of
said rules, or failure to comply with the provisions of said
rules for permits and inspections shall, when occurring within
the jurisdiction of the City of Ames, constitute an offense
against the City of Ames. "
Section Two. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict if any.
Section Three. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and publication as required by law.
