Dear Sister Marilyn:
I have received your letter ,of December 14th, in which you request that
the city establish a permanent "No Parking Monday thru Friday" regulation
along the east side of Oak Street. It appears that the reasons you list
for your recommendation to the parking problem are sound and I concur that
a safe refuge area must be provided for bus and parent vehicles.
Please be advised that I will place this matter before the Ames City
Council at the January 4th, 1983 City Council meeting for their considera-
tion. Several residents have contacted me in an effort to establish
parking only on the west side of Oak Street. It thus appears that
little opposition from the residential areas will result from changing
the city's parking code.
I certainly appericate your concerns in this matter, and hope that the
final solution will be beneficial to all parties involved. Thank you
again for your letter.
Sincerely,
James J. Valenta, P.E.
