Dear Mr. Valenta,
I am writing regarding the recent parking changes on Oak
Street. I fear that these new restrictions will cause
considerable problems with school children riding buses,
especially during the snow season.
I would like to request "Bus Loading Zone" signs effective
as soon as possible for the east side of Oak Street as a partial
but immediate solution. Children are dropped off and picked up
at our school three times daily. The present alternate parking
signs pose a dangerous problem.
A more permanent solution would be "No Parking, Monday -
Friday" all along the east side of Oak Street. This would
allow snow plows to clear the area for the bus or parent loading
and unloading at the curb. Previous experience of a great deal
of confusion and congestion of cars reaching back to and around
the corner on Lincoln Way prompts me to request the Counci.1 to
consider this, especially during the snow season.
I would appreciate hearing from you at your earliest convenience.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Sister Marilyn Whi`tty
