HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Relating to Appointments to Parks and Recreation Commission ORDINANCE NO. 2843 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTION 19.3 THEREOF AS SAID SECTION PRESENTLY EXISTS, AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION 19.3 FOR THE PURPOSE OF REVISING PROVISIONS WITH RESPECT TO APPOINTMENT OF PERSONS TO THE PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT, IF ANY, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE BE IT ENACTED by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa: Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa shall be and is hereby amended by repealing Section 19.3 thereof and enacting a new Section 19.3 to read as follows: "Section 19.3. QUALIFICATIONS. No one shall be a member of the Parks & Recreation Commis- sion who is not a resident of the City of Ames, nor shall anyone who is an employee or elected official of the City of Ames be a member. No person shall be reappointed more than once. Pro- vided however that if a person is first appointed to the Commission for the purpose of serving out the unexpired term of a position that has become vacant pursuant to Section 19.5 hereof, then such person may be reappointed to a second full term if that will not result in such person serving more than seven consecutive years. " Section Two. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict, if any. Section Three. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as required by law. Passed this 22nd day of February 1983.
