TIONS THROUGH 22.10 FOR THE PURPOSE REVISING AMES DAILY TRIBUNE
THE STREET

NANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH TO
THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT, IF ANY; PROVIDING A PENAL-
TY; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ENACTED, by the City Council for the City of Ames„ Iowa:
Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa shall be and i[

Sec. 22.8. SNOW ROUTES
Stopping, standing or parking of vehicles upon a street or
streets designated as snow routes, except as required at inter-
sections or otherwise to avoid collision, shall be and is hereby
prohibited at any time when snow-removal operations are in pro-
gress on said streets and before such operations have been com-
pleted for said streets by plowing the snow to the side of the published in said newspaper for 1 street. Vehicles found to be parked in violation of this ordinance W8S P
shall be cited for said violation and, to obviate the safety hazards
occasioned by incomplete snow removal, be summarily towed on consecutive weeks,the first
orders of a police officer to some place where the vehicle may be

Sec. 22.10. OTHER TOW-AWAY ZONES FOR SNOW REMOVAL
(1) Vehicles parked in violation of the provisions of Section
18.22(1) of this Code shall be towed when found so parked after

period of at least eight hours, so that those high density com-
mercial areas can be cleared of snow to prevent aggravated traffic
congestion and impedence of emergency vehicle access in a location
where the consequences of such congestion or impedence could be
of especially severe impact on public safety and well-being.
(2) After especially heavy snow accumulations, the City
Manager may post other streets with snow removal, tow-away
notice signs, and cause the towing of vghicles parked contrary to
such notice posted for more than twelve hours when such is
deemed necessary to enable City crews to clear out snow from
areas that had numerous parked cars or which for some other
reason could not be effectively cleared of snow by ordinary snow
plowing operations, so as to obviate the occurrence or continuance
of a special hazard caused by the said condition."
Section Three. Violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall constitute
a simple misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars
(f100.00) or by imprisonment not to exceed thirty (30) days.
Section Four. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and publication as required by law.
