SUBJECT: Request to rezone 3.4 acres located at the southeast corner of South
Duff Avenue and Crystal Street from G-I (General Industrial) to G-C
(General Commercial)
BACKGROUND:
This request was reviewed by the Planning and Zoning Commission on October 6,
1982. The Commission took the following action:
(Sherkow/Hoffman) That this request be recommended for approval by
City Council.
Motion carried unanimously.
The Planning and Zoning Commission, through the process of reviewing the
Land Use Policy Plan has designated the subject property as being suitable for
commercial development. That designation is reflected in the proposed change
in the Zoning Ordinance map that would zone the subject parcel G-C.
The property owner is requesting a change at this time because the G-I district
does not allow the construction of a shopping center.
ALTERNATIVES:
1 . Approve the request as submitted and set hearing for zoning change
for November 9, 1982.
2. Deny the request.
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended by the City Manager that the Council approve the request
for rezoning and set November 9, 1982 as the hearing date for the zoning change.
