RIPP TOM JORGENSEN ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL July 2, 1982 DIRECTOR OF ACTIVITIES AND THE AHS FOUNDATION Mr. John Klaus City Attorney City of Ames 5th & Kellogg Ames, Iowa 50010 Dear John: The purpose of this letter is to request that the city ordinance dealing with parking at Ames High School be changed in such a way that the police department can enforce parking regulations the entire year. Apparently, the present ordinance only allows enforcement during the school year. Presently the signs read, "No Parking 7:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. Monday through Friday." This is what we would like the ordinance to reflect. I have visited with Chief Siedelmann and Capt. Ballantine relative to this matter. They both agree that the ordinance should be changed. During the summer we have many people using the swimming pool as well as the high school. I believe we presently have a dangerous safety problem by allowing people to park in the area people must walk in order to get to and from the pool and building. I would appreciate your considering the matter and if you are so inclined, begin the process that is required to change this parking ordinance. Thank you for your help in this matter. Sincerely, Dr. Ralph Farrar, Principal Ames Senior High School RF/ss
