HomeMy WebLinkAboutA001 - request from residents for parking changes February 3, 1982 The Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council City of Ames Ames, Iowa 50010 Property owners on Prairie View East are concerned about the parking on our street. Because of the way parking is allowed presently we see a problem for entrance of emergency vehicles, fire trucks, and snow removal equipment. Attached is a petition comprised by the majority of property owners on our street. The signed petition will be available by your council meeting on the 9th of February. We have tried to keep this as simple as possible. We feel this policy would eliminate any potential problem, and be fair to residents on both sides of the street. By alternating the sides of the street for parking it will make it fair for all people involved. This will also eliminate the entrance problems for emergency vehicles, fife trucks and lately snow removal vehicles. The snow removal vehicles could do their job more effectively. We hope this letter and petition explains our thoughts sufficiently. Mike Conlon 2103 Prairie View East The undersigned owners of property on Prairie View East, in the interest of safety and practicality, petition the City of Ames to amend the parking regulations on our street. We feel the parking on our street is a problem and ask the city council to adopt regulations for parking on Prairie View East. We suggest Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays parking be allowed only on the even numbered side of the street. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays parking allowed only on the odd numbered side of the street. This petition also expresses our disapproval of the rumor of zone placements on the corners, as this would limit the amount of parking for the occupants of residences on c the corner lots. The alternate parking would take care of this potential problem. All vehicles in non-compliance could be towed. We also would like to have a dead end sign placed at the entrance to the street because of the number of out of town school busses, large trucks, and miscellaneous traffic seeking a short cut to the high school. We are hoping you will take prompt action to resolve these matters. Thank you. ,a. Ea s, . 1/7 Cc x 0.3 vim; C t-ir L 4 2 zo S Z./ Z l L re y /' ! < ,2-a ' r L U
