bear fir. Stephenson:
This is in response to your letter of December 31 , 1981, concerning
revision of the floodway limits on College Creek. Your letter states:
"The change can be adequately enforced by an amendment of the section of
the ordinance (flood plain management ordinance) which establishes the
floodway. The change can be documented by referencing the Corps of
Engineers' hydraulic analysis of the proposed floodway or other suitable
document. "
In reference to this, I am submitting the following:
"Section Four. Establishment of zoning districts. (City of Ames
Flood plain management Ordinance #2745, January 22, 1980. )
The flood plain areas within the jurisdiction of these regulations
are hereby divided into the following districts: (i ) Floodway District
(FW), (ii ) Floodwa Fringe District (FF), and (iii ) General Flood
Plain District (FP. The boundaries are shown on the Official
Flood Plain Zoning I-lap and as supplemented by the "Hydraulic Analysis
of Bridge Openings and Floodway Realignment, College Creek an
Elwood Drive Extension, Ames, Iowa, September, 19809U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers, Rock. Is aUistrict.
We agree that this in a better reference than a map revision in that there
is anticipated to be no development in this area.
