AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE
OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA BY REPEALING
SECTION 19.2 THEREOF AS SAID SECTION HAS
HERETOFORE EXISTED AND ENACTING A NEW
SECTION 19.2 FOR THE PURPOSE OF INCREASING
THE NUMBER OF PERSONS ON THE PARKS AND
RECREATION COMMISSION FROM FIVE TO SEVEN;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDI-
NANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH TO THE EX-
TENT OF SUCH CONFLICT, IF ANY; AND ESTAB-
LISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa,

shall be nd is hereby amended by repealing Section 19.2 thereof and
enacting a new Section 19.2, said new section to read as follows:
"Sec. 19.2. APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS, TERM OF OFFICE.
The Parks and Recreation Commission shall consist of
seven (7) persons appointed by the Mayor with consent of the
City Council. The term of office shall be three (3) years be-
ginning April 1 of the year in which the appointment is made;
provided, however, that when two new positions on the com-
mission are being filled for the first time one of the persons
first appointed shall serve a term of one year only to be
determined by drawing of lots. "
Section Two. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict if any.
Section Three. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and publication as required by law.
