HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Relating to Contracts of the Hospital Board of Trustees for Construction Work r \ x 7' ORDINANCE NO. 2771 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA BY REPEALING SECTION 12.16 THEREOF AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION 12.16 PERTAINING TO CONTRACTS OF THE MUNICIPAL HOSPITAL BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR WHICH CITY COUNCIL APPROVAL IS RE- QUIRED, FOR THE PURPOSE OF INCREASING THE DOLLAR AMOUNT OF CONTRACTS FOR BUILDING OR CONSTRUCTION WORK FOR WHICH COUNCIL APPROVAL IS REQUIRED; REPEALING ALL ORDI- NANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa: Section One. The Municipal Code for the City of Ames, Iowa shall be and is hereby amended by repealing Sec. 12.16 thereof as said section has heretofore existed. Section Two. The Municipal Code for the City of Ames, Iowa is further amended by adopting a new section 12. 16, said new section to read as follows: "Sec. 12. 16. CONTRACTS FOR WHICH COUNCIL APPROVAL REQUIRED. The following contracts shall not be valid and enforce- able unless approved by the city council: (1) All contracts and agreements for the granting, ac- quisition or conveyance of any title, interest, right, power, privilege or immunity with respect to real property, including leases, licenses and ease- ments. [State Law Ref. Iowa Code Sections 392.1,392.31 (2) Any and all installment contracts. [State Law Ref. Iowa Code Sec. 392.31 (3) Contracts pertaining to building or construction work when the estimated total cost exceeds Twenty- five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00). [State Law Ref. Iowa Code Sections 384.95, 384.961" Section Three. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict if any. Section Four.
