HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Relating to Responsibility of Persons Who Sell Beer ORDINANCE NO. 2746 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA BY ADDING THERE- TO A NEW SECTION TO BE NUMBERED SECTION 3-1003 FOR THE PURPOSE OF PLACING A RESPON- SIBILITY ON PERSONS WHO SELL BEER TO DE- MAND EVIDENCE OF AGE OF PURCHASER; RE- PEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF OR- DINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING A PENALTY; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames is hereby amended by enacting a new section 3-1003 entitled, Responsibility to Require Identification for Beer Sales, said new section to read as fol- lows: "Sec. 3-1003. RESPONSIBILITY TO REQUIRE IDENTIFICATION FOR BEER SALES. It shall be unlawful for persons who sell beer for consumption off the premises, or for their em- ployees, to sell, give or otherwise supply beer to any person who appears to be under legal age without first demanding and examining satisfactory evidence of the purchaser's age. " Section Two. Violations of the provisions of this ordinance shall constitute a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $100 or by imprisonment for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days. Section Three. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section Four.
