In order to reduce our mapping costs, we will defer revising the corporate limits and republishing the FIRM for the City of Ames at this time. However, the identification of Special Flood Hazard Areas and Base Flood Elevations are contained on the readily available FIRM for Story County, Iowa. A copy of the appropriate panels of the Story County FIRM have been ordered for shipment and you should receive them soon. In the future, if the community's FIRM warrants a revision, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will also consider republishing the FIRM to reflect the most current corporate limits. We will contact the city at that time in order to obtain the most current corporate limits information. Should you have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact the Chief, Natural and Technological Hazards Division of FEMA, in Atlanta, Georgia at (404) 881-2391 or Mr. Dan Cotter of our Central Office staff in Washington, D.C. at (202) 287-0230.
