HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Designating Intersections Where No Right Turn is Permitted r ORDINANCE NO. 2689 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA BY ADDING THERE- TO A NEW SECTION 33-5005 . 5 DESIGNATING INTERSECTIONS WHERE NO RIGHT TURN IS PER- MITTED ON A RED LIGHT; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CON- FLICT HEREWITH TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH CON- FLICT; PROVIDING A PENALTY AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE BE IT ENACTED by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa: Section One . The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa shall be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto a new section 33-5005 . 5 to read as follows : "Sec. 33-5005 . 5 Intersections Where Right Turn on Red Prohibited It is unlawful for the driver of any vehicle approaching the following intersections from the designated direction to make a right hand turn at such intersection when facing a steady red traffic control signal if a sign stating "no right turn on red" is posted: a) northbound vehicles at the intersec- tion of Lincoln Way and Elwood Drive. b) northbound vehicles at the intersec- tion of Lincoln Way and Franklin Avenue. c) northbound vehicles at the intersec- tion of Lincoln Way and Beedle Drive. d) northbound and southbound vehicles at the intersection of Lincoln Way and Welch Avenue. e) southbound vehicles at the intersec- tion of Lincoln Way and Knoll Road. f) southbound and westbound vehicles at the intersection of Main Street and Kellogg Avenue. g) eastbound vehicles at the intersection of Sixth Street and Grand Avenue. " -G Section Two. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section Three. Violation of this ordinance shall constitute a simple misdemeanor. Section Four. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as required by law.
