AN ORDINANCE TO VACATE THE ALLEY IN
BLOCK 8 OF THE ORIGINAL TOWN OF ONTARIO, GLORIA A. POUNDS, Recorder
NOW PART OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA By wHY w Deputy
WHEREAS , the North/South alley platted in Block
8 of the Original Town of Ontario, now a part of the City
of Ames, Iowa, has never been opened and improved for
pedestrian and vehicular traffic; and,
WHEREAS , the said alley does not constitute a
"road" within the meaning of chapter 306 of the Code of
Iowa 1977; and
WHEREAS, notice of the proposed vacating was
published and hearing thereon has been held as required
by 1 aw.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council
for the City of Ames, Iowa:
Section One.The North and South alley 20 feet in
width and the center line of which is 150 feet east of the
existing monuments showing the original east line of Delaware
Avenue and which lies between Toronto Street and Reliable
Street and between and parallel to Delaware Avenue and North
Dakota Avenue and runs through Block Eight (8) of the Original
Town of Ontario and now a part of the City of Ames, Story
County, Iowa, and
That portion of Toronto Street as originally platted and which
lies directly south of the above-described alley and which is
legally described as follows: Beginning at the southeast
corner of Lot Two (2) of said Block Eight (8) ; thence south
ten (10) feet; thence east twenty (20) feet; thence north to
the southwest corner of Lot One (1) of said Block Eight (8) ;
thence west to the point of beginning, now a part of the City
of Ames, Iowa shall be and is hereby vacated.
Section Two . Any and all ordinances or parts of
ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the
extent of such conflict, if any.
Section Three. This ordinance shall be in full
force and. ;effect from and after its passage and publication
as , regtfi�bc by law.
