HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Prohibiting 48-Hour Parking • s ORDINANCE NO. 2684 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES , IOWA BY REPEALING ARTICLE XIV OF CHAPTER 33 THEREOF CON- TAINING SECTION 33-14001 THROUGH 33-14011 PERTAINING TO FORTY-EIGHT HOUR PARKING AND THE IMPOUNDMENT AND DISPOSITION OF ABAN- DONED VEHICLES AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION TO BE NUMBERED 33-13001 TO RETAIN THE PROHIBITION AGAINST FORTY-EIGHT HOUR PARK- ING ON CITY STREETS AND IN CITY PARKING LOTS ; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINPNCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT IF ANY; PROVIDING A PENALTY AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa. Section One . The Municipal Code of the City of Ames , Iowa shall be and is hereby amended by repealing Article XIV of Chapter 33 thereof consisting of sections 33-14001 through 33-14011 . Section Two . The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa shall be and is hereby further amended by enacting a new section 33-13001, said new section to read as follows: "Sec. 33-13001 . 48 Hour Parking Prohibited. It is unlawful for any person to park any vehicle and to permit the same to remain standing continuously and in one place for a period of more than 48 hours upon a city street or municipally owned or leased parking lot or upon any other public thoroughfare in the City of Ames . " Section Three . Any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict if any. Section Four. Violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall constitute a simple misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100) or by imprisonment for a period not to exceed thirty days (30) . Section Five . This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as required by law. Passed this 3rd day of October 1978 . 01 Mary E.
