zoning, to I-I, tight industr%at, and ass I had Requested to be advised when this
came up 4or heating you& City CleAk, MaAy Paul, duty sent me notice of this meeting,
and I blew into DuMoines and drove up to Ames to Listen in.
My interest in this Aezo ning is diteett y related to my owners hip o� the Ames MotoA
Lodge, 318 E. Lineolnway, a matteA o6 onty zevewt hundred fleet 4rom this praposed
rezoned property, and at this meeting I Belt no ataAm that this property is under
con6 derati,on JoA rezoning, but I wish at thin time to express to you my concern
that this area, upon being rezoned, shoutd become an indu�str%at poAk with any accomp-
anying odors, noises, houu o6 opeAati.on or tAajjic problems that would injute the
bu inu.s at the Ames Motor Lodge, which is lodging people za6ely and qu,ietey �m a
good night',s asleep. As you know, we are aPtr.eady aetctozs the stAeet 6Aom the Sotid
Waste Recovery plant and within a block or so o f the coat yard with its black
smoke problem, and we know that these are situations we have to ti.ve with, because
they a2tceady exist. We j.cnd no problem reeonciting oursetves to this; howeveA,
the addition o6 any 4utrtheA indu�stAy that would operate at night time houAZ oA
oveAn%ght houts with any accompanying noise or o66ens.Lve odoA .vs ceAtainly a •s.itu-
ation that has me apprehensive over its potential e66eet on the bu6inesz desi&abit ty
o6 the Ames Motor Lodge; theAejore, I wilt be attending jutuAe heating-6 as they
