ORDINANCE NO. 2654
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE
OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA BY REPEALING
SUB-SECTION 2-2013 (d) AS ENACTED BY
ORDINANCE NO. 2638; AND ENACTING A NEW
SUB-SECTION 2-2013 (d) FOR THE PURPOSE OF
REQUIRING COUNCIL MEMBER COMMENTS ON THE
MAYOR' S LIST OF POTENTIAL APPOINTEES TO
BE IN WRITING STATING REASONS FOR ANY
PERSON BEING UNACCEPTABLE TO THE COUNCIL
MEMBER AND SETTING A TIME LIMIT IN WHICH
SUCH COMMENT MUST BE MADE; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH
CONFLICT AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
BE IT ENACTED, by the City Council for the City of
Ames, Iowa:
Section One. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames,
Iowa shall be and is hereby amended by repealing sub-section
2-2013 (d) thereof as enacted by Ordinance No. 2638 and enacting
a new sub-section 2-2013 (d) as follows :
" (d) The members of the Council may, within
seven days after receiving the Mayor ' s list as
described, respond individually to the Mayor
in writing with regard to any concerns they
may have about the person or persons the Mayor
prefers for appointment, stating reasons for
finding any person or persons unacceptable. "
Section Two. All ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
Section Three. This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage and publication as required
by law.
