CITY CLERKS OFFICE ANTES, IOWA 5 10 ORDINANCE NO. 2576 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL_ CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA BY REPEAL- ING SUBSECTIONS 38-1002(11) , 38-1002(33) , 38-1002(44) AND 38-1044(b) THEREOF; PA-9-,� THEREOF; AND, ENACTING NEW SUBSECTION 38-1002 (11) , 38-1002(33) , 38-1002(44) , 38-1044(b) AMA —,� FOR THE PURPOSE OF REVISING THE DEFINITION OF "BOARDING HOUSE" , "LODGING HOUSE" AND THE DEFINITION OF "FRATERNITY AND SORORITY" AND REVISING REQUIRED OFF- STREET PARKING FOR BOARDING HOUSES AND LODGING HOUSES, AND THE USES PERMITTED IN THE R-3 AND R-4 ZONING DISTRICTS; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT; PROVIDING A PENALTY; AND, ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ENACTED, by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa that: Section 1. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa shall be and is hereby amended by repealing subsection 38-1002(11) , 38-1002(33) , 38-1002(44) , 38-1044(b) and section 38-1015 thereof as they have heretofore existed. Section 2. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa is further amended by enacting new subsection 38-1002(11) , 38-1002(33) and 38-1002(44) to read as follows: "Sec. 38-1002. Definitions. (11) Boarding House: A lodging or rooming house where meals are regularly served for compensation to more than three (3) persons not members of the family or families there re- siding. (33) Fraternity House; Sorority House: A building, other than a hotel or motel , that is occupied as a domicile predominantly by members, candidates for membership, employees and guests of the same social fraternity or sorority. (44) Lodging House: Also called Rooming House, is a building or portion thereof, other than a hotel or motel , which provides rooms for sleeping, and is capable of accommodating more than three people, for which rents or fees are charged. " Section 3. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames is further amended by enacting a new subsection 38-1044(b) to read as follows: "Sec. 38-1044. Off-street Parking Required. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here- with are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as required by law.
