Mayor and City Council City Hall Ames, Iowa 50010 Dear Mayor and Members of the City Council : Robert D. Pyle, an accountant in Ames, Iowa, with offices at 414 Northwestern Avenue, recently purchased or has an option to purchase seven separate tracts of real estate located at the northwest quadrant of Fifth Street and Grand Avenue. The seven tracts are locally described as follows : 727 Fifth Street, 719 Fifth Street, 715 Fifth Street, 711 Fifth Street, 503 Grand Avenue , 507-509 Grand Avenue, and 515 Grand Avenue. Mr. Pyle has options to purchase the houses at 507-509 and 503 Grand Avenue and intends to exercise his options on or before August 1 of this year. His contract to purchase the real estate located at 727 Fifth Street will be settled during the week of July 19 . Title to the other four houses is in his name. He plans to construct a new office building on the real estate. For this purpose, Mr. Pyle respectfully petitions the City Council to amend the zoning ordinance to include the seven tracts of real estate within a "C-5" zoning district. Please transmit this request to the City Planning and Zoning Commission for an investigation and report. As required by the municipal code, I enclose herewith the names and addresses of the owners of record of lots within a distance of 200 feet of the real estate, and I also enclose herewith a check in the sum of $30 .00, payable to the City of Ames, Iowa, to cover costs of publishing notice of the proposed amendment and other incidental expenses .
