Home My WebLink About~Master - Regulating Speed on North Duff, Sixth Street, and 24th Street ORDINANCE NO. 2551 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA FOR THE PURPOSE OF REGULATING THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC ALONG NORTH DUFF AVENUE, SIXTH STREET, AND TWENTY-FOURTH STREET WITHIN THE CITY OF AMES, BY REPEALING SECTIONS 33-7006.1 and 33-7009, AND ADOPTING IN THEIR PLACE NEW SECTIONS 33-7006.1, 33-7009 AND 33-7024; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, PROVIDING A PENALTY, AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA: Section 1. That Sections 33-7006.1 and 33-7009 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, as said sections have heretofore existed be and the same are hereby repealed. Section 2. The Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa is further amended by adding thereto new sections 33-7006.1, 33-7009 and 33-7024 to read as follows: Section 33-7006.1 Duff Avenue, North A speed in excess of thirty (30) miles per hour on North Duff Avenue from Sixth Street North to the North intersection with Northwood Drive is unlawful. Section 33-7009 Sixth Street A speed in excess of thirty (30) miles per hour on Sixth Street from Grand Avenue to one hundred (100) feet east of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad underpass is unlawful. Section 33-7024 Twenty-fourth Street A speed in excess of thirty (30) miles per hour on Twenty-fourth Street from Ferndale Avenue to the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad tracks is unlawful. Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. f4 rr - 2 - Section 4. Violations of this ordinance shall constitute a misdemeaner. Section 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as required by law.
