HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Relating to Location of Water Main Taps i ORDINANCE: NO. 2 547 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTION 36-4026 AS SAID SECTION HAS HERETOFORE EXISTED AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION 36-4026 FOR THE PURPOSE OF REVISING THE REGULATIONS RELATIVE TO THE MANNER IN WHICH TAPS ARE TO BE MADE ON WATER MAINS; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINP14CES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT, AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE: DATE. BE IT ENACTED by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa: Section 1. That the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, be, and the same is, hereby amended by repealing Section 36-4:026 thereof as said section has heretofore existed and enacting a new Section 36-4026 , said new section to read as follows : "Sec. 36-4026 . Location of taps . Taps are to be made in the lower half of the upper half of the main or not more than forty-five (45) degrees above the horizontal axis of the main. Taps are to be at least eighteen (18) inches apart, and on opposite sides of the pipe. No main shall be tapped nearer than one (1) foot to a joint. " Section 2 . All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 3 . This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as required by law. Passed this 15th day of June 1976 .
